The 1920s and 1980s are similar in legion(predicate) ways. Their similarities are social, economical, and political. virtually of the similarities amongst the decades are Prohibition and the War on Drugs, the pullulate food market Crash of 1929 and 1987, and the influence of music on society. Prohibition was passed as the 18th amendment, that importing, exporting, transporting, and manu itemuring of inebriant was to be put to an end. Prohibition did non get hold of its goals. Instead, it added to the problems that it intended to solve. It was expected that the decrease in alcohol purpose would in turn reduce nuisance, poverty, death considers, remedy the economy, and the superior of life. As a result of the lack of enforcement of the Prohibition bite and the creation of an illegal industry of bootlegging an increase in detestation transpired. The Prohibitionists hoped that the Volstead Act would decrease drunkenness in the States and thereby decrease the abuse rate, especially in massive cities. Although towards the line of Prohibition this purpose seemed to be fulfilled, the execration rate presently skyrocketed to nearly twice that of the pre- restraint period. In large cities the homicide went from 5.6 (per 100,000 population) in the pre-ban period, to nearly 10 (per 100,000 population) during prohibition, nearly a 78 pct increase. Serious crimes, such as homicides, assault, and battery, increased nearly 13 part, while other crimes involving victims increased 9 percentage. Many supporters of prohibition argued that the crime rate decreased. This is true if one is examining only diminished crimes, such as swearing, mischief, and vagrancy, which did in fact decrease remiss to prohibition. The major crimes, however, such as homicides, and burglaries, increased 24 percent between 1920 and 1921. In addition, the number of federal convicts over the downslope of the prohibition period increased 561 percent (Hanson 31-34). After... ! Maybe it wasnt opened so let me reiterate. Due to the ban on alcohol many people, such as the mob, began smuggling alcohol into the country. The possession, distri scarceion, and pulmonary tuberculosis of alcohol was deemed illegal. An illegal act can also be tagged as a crime. An average essay. The writer goes into expatiate rather well in this paper without boring the reader.

alcohol is loosely the become of viloence so i dis confine with nearly of this writers statements. yeah..I comprehend of Scarface...what I was talkin bout was an individual...you enjoy...like drugs make a guy do strange things, you know?...sure Scarface was whackin heads in Chicago..but that dont mean crime was up Hicksville, you know?...but drugs and cosumption of firewater would increase crime rate in Hicksville. So the crime was up in Chicago but not across the board. I know how to read charts too, you know. I dont agree with you on the fact that you said alcohol isnt a chemical element in crime -it is a proven fact that it does. not bad overall, but could be improved. Overall a habitual paper...pretty good insight on the issues. One thing that caught me as funny was this...lack of alcohol caused crime in the 20s. I would strongly disagree with this because crime evaluate climb every year, and it is ordinarily known that alcohol is a number one cause of violence. I find it distressing that for some reason the causation makes lack of alcohol mind bad! but fails to tell the reader that in twin with the increase of drugs in the 80s the crime rate skyrocketed faster than in the 20s.
